ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF AN ONLINE BOARDING ROOM RESERVATION INFORMATION SYSTEM AT BOARDING HOUSES IN THE MITRA RAYA COMPLEX BATAM CENTER

Abstract

Room rental is a rapidly growing business, particularly in strategic areas such as campuses and office centers. However, the current methods for searching and booking boarding rooms remain ineffective and manual. This study aims to design and develop a Boarding Room Reservation Information System application using VB.NET. The application is designed to facilitate prospective tenants in efficiently searching for and booking rooms, while assisting boarding house owners in managing their properties digitally.The research methods include direct observation in the Mitra Raya Complex, Batam Center, interviews with boarding house owners, and a literature review on software development. The result of this study is a desktop-based application offering features such as room search based on specific criteria, room reservation, transaction recording, and monthly reports for boarding house owners. This system is expected to provide an effective solution to the challenges of manual room search and booking processes while enhancing boarding house management efficiency.
