Abstract

In today's digital era, it cannot be denied that the need for the internet is unavoidable. PT Ghim Lie is a company that operates in the garment business, this company is one of the largest companies in Batam, of course in the garment sector. This company uses computer networks to help company operations, both for communication and to help with the production process. Almost all activities require an internet connection. Cacti is a software used for monitoring purposes that is widely used today. Cacti can store all the data/information needed to create graphs and collect them with a MySql database. The aim of this research is to build a network monitoring system and analyze the results of network monitoring to be used as material for future improvements. The data collection techniques used to find out what the current network is like and to dig up information related to the network devices used are observation, literature study and interviews. Based on the research results, it was concluded that the Cacti software was able to function well, so it could help IT staff at PT. Ghim Lie to monitor incoming, outgoing traffic, ping latency, polling time and up time. Monitoring results show an average incoming traffic of 10.875 Mb/s, outgoing traffic of 13.9225 Mb/s, ping latency 0, Polling time 456.09 Mb/s and Uptime 39.08. If viewed using typhon standards, the network at PT. Ghim Lie was stated to be very good. It is hoped that this research can help companies improve network performance so that company operations can run optimally. Keywords: Computer Network, Network Monitoring, Cacti.
