DIGITALIZATION OF BOOK MANAGEMENT AND BORROWING SERVICES IN CAMPUS LIBRARIES THROUGH A DESKTOP-BASED INFORMATION SYSTEM

Abstract

Campus libraries have an important role in supporting academic activities; however, many library management processes are still carried out manually, causing various problems such as recording errors, service delays, difficulties in data retrieval, and ineffective report generation. This study aims to design and develop a Desktop-Based Campus Library Information System for book management and borrowing transactions. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE development model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation.The system was developed using Java NetBeans programming language, Java Swing interface, and MySQL database. The main features of the system include admin login, dashboard, book data management, student data management, borrowing transactions, book returns, and report generation in Excel format. System testing was carried out using the Black Box Testing method and qualitative analysis.The test results indicate that all system functions operated according to requirements without significant errors. Users also provided positive feedback because the system was considered easy to use, able to speed up services, improve data accuracy, and simplify report generation. Based on the research findings, the desktop-based campus library information system is considered feasible to be implemented as a digital solution to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of campus library management.
